CURRENT FLAGSHIP MEMOIR

The Empty Suitcase

The story of Malethola Maggie Nkwe, told through nursing, faith, family, women’s leadership and a life of community service.

THE STORY

An empty suitcase. A life of purpose.

The memoir takes its name from an empty suitcase Maggie carried when she entered nursing. It became a symbol of humble beginnings and the resilience, care and purpose that followed.

The narrative centres people and everyday experiences: hospital wards, children’s welfare, church communities, family, women’s work and South Africa’s changing history.
